THE NEW XPAN 2.0 SOLE
HEAT-RESISTANCE
XPAN® 2.0 features a vulcanized rubber compound engineered for smelting and metallurgical environments. It offers reliable heat resistance by maintaining its integrity and structure when exposed to hot surfaces or molten splash.
Slip-resistance
The XPAN® 2.0 outsole is designed for high-risk industrial surfaces, with a certified slip-resistant lug pattern that maximizes contact and channels away fluids to maintain secure footing in both wet and dry conditions.
To evaluate slip resistance, we use the SATRA TM144 method on dry and wet quarry tile as well as stainless steel. This test measures the dynamic coefficient of friction at both the flat and heel areas of the boot. The results below show how the outsole performs under each condition.

To evaluate slip resistance for the U.S. market, we use the ASTM F2913-23 test method. This standard measures the dynamic coefficient of friction on surfaces such as dry and wet quarry tile and stainless steel. Results are collected at both the heel and forefoot to reflect realistic walking conditions.

To meet international slip resistance requirements, we use the ISO 20344 test method (Section 5.11). This procedure measures the dynamic coefficient of friction on ceramic tile surfaces contaminated with water and detergent, simulating realistic slipping hazards. Measurements are taken at both the heel and forefoot to reflect true walking conditions.

Molten Metal Design

- Seamless vamp construction, extended tongue, and heat-resistant components work together to reduce entry points and maintain protection under molten metal exposure.

Spoon Test
The spoon test simulates sudden contact with molten metal poured directly onto the boot's surface. This test evaluates ignition resistance, splash deflection, and upper material performance under intense localized heat.

Dip Test
The dip test evaluates prolonged exposure by submerging the lower part of the boot into molten aluminum. It measures how well the outsole and construction resist continuous heat, deformation, and material breakdown.
