ROYER ANNOUNCES R-DRY

NEW R-DRY TECHNOLOGY FOR PRODUCTS WITH WATERPROOF MEMBRANES

*Updated May 24th, 2022*

Dear clients,

We are writing to inform you that ROYER will no longer manufacture products that include GORE-TEX® branded polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) laminate.

For more information on the environmental impacts of PTFE, please visit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polytetrafluoroethylene

Although PTFE has been widely used in the footwear and apparel industry since the 1970s, there are better commercial alternatives in today’s manufacturing landscape.

Products that currently incorporate this component have been (or will be) phased out and replaced with our new, PTFE-free R-DRY™ technology.

 New R-DRY™ technology

After several months of development, ROYER has chosen a high-performance polyurethane laminate for all of its waterproof and breathable boots.

The R-DRY™ technology has the following key benefits:

• PTFE free
• Fully waterproof
• Proven long-term breathability
• Glueless fusion lamination
• Made from recycled materials

Over the course of 2021, ROYER’s Innovation team tested dozens of R-DRY™ boots to ensure the performance was up to our standards.

To evaluate the performance against liquid penetration, we used the ''SATRA T230: Dynamic Footwear Water Penetration Test'' method from SATRA laboratory (UK)1.
For breathability, we used the MVTR ''Breathability / Water Vapor Permeability, Military method'' from Precision Testing Laboratories (USA)2.

We performed trials using a controlled group to compare the performance of the R-DRY™ membrane with the previously used PTFE membrane.

As you can see, products with R-DRY™ technology have demonstrated excellent breathability rates (MVTR) when compared to its predecessor.

As a result, the transition to our R-DRY™ technology has begun, starting with our REVOLT™, AGILITY™ TACTICAL and AGILITY™ UNIFORM collections.

For more technical or commercial information regarding this change, please contact your ROYER® representative.
