Traction and Stability
Winter Performance
Advanced VIBRAM® and MICHELIN® compounds are engineered to maintain grip and stability across snow, slush, and mixed winter terrain. Several ROYER® models hold the RateMyTreads “One Snowflake” certification, verified through testing at the KITE Research Institute in Toronto, Canada.
Thermal Protection
Proven Warmth
PrimaLoft®, 3M™ Thinsulate™, and our R-THERM™ system are engineered to keep you warm in demanding winter conditions. Each insulation option is selected for a specific temperature challenge, ensuring the right level of cold-weather protection for every environment.
Waterproof Construction
Moisture Management
ROYER R-DRY™ and AIRFLOW™ membranes form a waterproof barrier that resists snow, slush, and water intrusion, while their micro-porous design lets internal humidity escape, keeping you dry and comfortable in unpredictable winter conditions.
Designed for mild winter conditions, these lightweight models deliver agile, athletic comfort with breathable waterproof protection, powered by the proven wet-ice and dry-ice traction performance of the VIBRAM® Arctic Grip Pro™ outsole.

We work closely with world-leading insulation partners to offer a full range of cold-weather protection. Our thermal comfort ratings are based on rigorous testing validated in Canadian winter worksites, giving you and your team the right level of protection no matter the winter conditions.
3M™ THINSULATE™ insulation provides a thermal comfort rating down to -20°C. It features synthetic microfibres designed to trap air and block radiant heat loss while allowing moisture to escape; keeping your feet warm and dry.
The coefficient of friction (CoF) refers to the scientific measure of frictional force between two contact surfaces - in the case of winter months, the sole of your work boot or shoe with the harsh winter surfaces.
Winter surfaces can be treacherous with hazards such as snow, ice, and slush. A higher CoF is generally better, equating to enhanced grip and reduced chances of slips and falls. However, the specific needs of the intended use and environment must always be considered.
Please note that a higher CoF does not offer flawless protection against slips and falls, nor do our products replace crampons or grippers. Always use good judgment and move cautiously on icy surfaces.
RateMyTreads tests winter footwear adherence using a unique Maximum Achievable Angle (MAA) test. A measure that demonstrates slip resistance while walking on an angled, icy surface.
This method determines the steepest angle our footwear can resist slipping, showcasing safety and performance. Several of our models proudly boast a one snowflake certification, awarded to those products that pass the "medium" criteria (7 to 10 degrees) for maximal achievable angle test.
